ANIMALINTEX HOOF POULTICE. An aid in the relief of injuries and conditions of the equine foot. Horse size. Animalintex Hoof Poultice has been designed especially for the equine foot. Easy and quick to prepare-no need to cut to shape. Precut shape for economy. Easy to apply and handle, especially when wet. Easy, convenient shape to hold in place when bandaging.
HOW TO USE: Animalintex hoof poultice can be used either as a hot wet poultice or cold wet poultice, or as a dry wound dressing. General preparations: 1. Gently clean mud and dirt from the application area. 2. Place the hoof poultice with the plastic waterproof backing uppermost in a clean shallow container. Hot Wet Poulticing: 1. Pour boiled water that has been allowed to cool to 38C/100F into the container around the edges of the hoof poultice. 2. When the hoof poultice is saturated, take it out and gently squeeze out the excess water. 3. Place the hoof poultice on the area with the plastic waterproof backing on the outside (away from the sole of the foot), molding the hoof poultice to the contours of the foot. 4. Hold in place with 3M Vetrap Bandaging Tape, making sure the hoof poultice is completely covered. Cold Wet Poulticing: 1. Follow the General Preparations above but use cool, potable water. Pour the water around the edges of the hoof poultice. 2. When the hoof poultice is saturated, take it out and gently squeeze out the excess water. 3. Apply to the area COLD with the plastic waterproof backing on the outside (away from the sole of the foot). 4. Hold in place with 3M Vetrap bandaging tape, making sure the hoof poultice is completely covered. Wound dressing (Use Dry) 1. Gently clean any mud or dirt from the application area. 2. Place the hoof poultice on the area with the plastic waterproof backing on the outside (away from the sole). 3. Hold in place with 3M Vetrap bandaging tape, making sure the hoof poultice is completely covered.
IMPORTANT: Change hoof poultice at least once every 12 hours. For external use only. Wash hands before and after use. Do not apply too hot; test it on the back of your hand-it should feel comfortable to the touch. Ensure the hoof poultice is applied with the plastic waterproof backing away from the animal. Do not bandage too tightly. If the skin is broken, be sure to follow routine disease prevention and immunization procedures.
