INDICATIONS: Foal-Lac foal milk replacer is a complete feed that simulates the nutritional composition of mare’s milk.
DOSAGE: Mixing Directions: Mix one cup (8 oz. cup enclosed) of foal-lac powder with 3 cups of warm water. This yields approx. 1 1/2 pints of milk replacer. Feeding Directions: (Orphaned Foals) 1) The foal should receive colostrum during the first 24 hours after foaling. A physical examination of the foal by your veterinarian is recommended at this time. 2) Administer Bene Bac Lactobacillus paste between 12 and 24 hours of age and on days 4 and 7. 3) The following schedule for feeding Foal-Lac milk replacer is a guideline for foals that will mature to about 1100 lbs bodyweight. Since each foal is an individual, more or less milk replacer can be fed, depending on appetite. Pony foals should be fed about half of these quantities. Draft breed foals will require up to twice these quantities. Feeding Schedule: 4) The age of the foal is given, followed by the Fol-Lac pts./feeding, followed by the no. of feedings per day, followed by the amount of Foal-Lac Pellet and 16% Foal Creep Feed (if any) to be used per day. 1-14 days, 1 1/2, 8. 2-3 weeks, 2, 8, Provide 1/2 lb foal feed. 3-4 weeks, 3, 6, Feed 1 cup pellets and 1/2 lb foal feed. 4-5 weeks, 3, 6, feed 2 cups pellets and 3/4 lb foal feed. 5-6 weeks, 3, 4, feed 3 cups pellets, and 1 lb. foal fee. 6-7 weeks, 3, 4, 4 cups pellets, and 1. lb foal feed. 7-8 weeks, 3,2, feed 5 cups pellets and 1 1/2 lb foal feed. 2-3 months, Wean from liquid milk replacer. Feed 6 cups pellets and 2 lbs foal feed. 3-4 months. Feed 6 cups of pellets and 3 lbs foal feed daily. 4-5 months, 3 cups pellets, and 4 lbs foal feed daily. 5-6 months. 3 cups pellets, and 5 lbs foal feed daily. 6-12 months, change to a 14% protein weanling ration of grain and hay/pasture. If extra condition is required, supplement with 1 to 3 cups of Foal-Lac Pellets daily. 5) Reconstituted Foal-Lac Powder can be fed in an open bucket. Any milk left by the foal after 3 hours should be discarded. Always wash the feeding utensils with hot, soapy water and rinse well after each feeding. 6) Good quality tender hay, salt, and water should be provided free choice starting at 10 days of age. 7) The foal should receive exercise daily to stimulate appetite and to develop bone and muscle. 8) Consult your veterinarian for parasite control, necessary immunizations and signs of illness. Feeding directions: Early Weaned/Nursing Foals: Early weaned foals can be placed on the orphan foal feeding schedule. The age of the foal will determine the place to start in the feeding schedule, Nursing foals receiving an inadequate amount of milk from the mare can be placed on the orphan foal schedule. Start with half the amount of Foal-Lac recommended for orphans, then adjust up or down according to the foal’s appetite.

Lactation: To help ensure adequate milk production, supplement the ration with 3 cups of Pellets daily. If the mare begins to lose weight, gradually increase to a maximum of 6 cups daily. Breeding Stallions: During breeding season supplement the stallions ration with 1 to 3 cups of Pellets daily to maintain condition.
