The freeze-dried vaccine is a preparation of modified live virus (MLV) strains of IBR, BVD (Types 1 and 2), PI and BRSV propagated on an established -cell line. The Campylobacter bacterin is an inactivated Leptospira bacterin prepared from whole cultures of the agents indicated. The Campylobacter-Leptospira bacterin is supplied as a diluent for the IBR-BVD-PI-BRSV vaccine.
Advantages: Contains both BVDV type 1 and 2 to provide optimum protection against BVDV infection. Protection against BVDV type 1 or 2 fetal infection interrupts the cycle of in utero infection and birth of persistently infected calves that perpetuate disease in the herd. The only vaccine shown to protect against IBR virus abortions and persistent infection by BVDV types 1 and 2. Shown to be safe when given to pregnant cows or calves nursing pregnant cows provided they were vaccinated within the past 12 months with one of the Bovi-Shield FP or PregGuard FP vaccines. Achieved excellent protection against sevre BVDV type 2 intranasl challenge not demonstrated by any other vaccine manufacturer. Controls viremia and provides protection against persistent infection. Rigorous safety studies showed that a 1,000-fold dose of the BVDV type 2 strain in Bovi-Shield Gold FP 5 VL5 resulted in no viral shedding, fever, clinical illness, immunosuppression or other side effects. Provides protection against 4 of the most common bovine viral respiratory and reproductive diseases, including BVD caused by BVDV types 1 and 2, IBR, PI and BRSV.
