#7521 - This de-icer is designed to float in the water tank and is thermostatically controlled with an automatic shut-off. The Styrofoam float is completely enclosed within a rugged plastic housing. The cord exits from the top of the unit. This gives the heater added stability and it is less likely to tip the tank. Patented. 1500 watt, 120 volt. Guard available separately to convert for use in plastic tanks.

Deice7521-7521 Float tank deicer 1500 watt
DESCRIPTION: Allied floating tank de-icer with an automatic shut-off system. It has a cord protection and thermostatically controlled. A rugged and weather-resistant deicer , unsinkable and guaranteed. The deicer is a round and almost 8 inches diameter. Has a coil on each side of deicer. The cord is 72 inches from protected area to end of cord. If this is used in a non-metallic tank you do need the 88R Guard. The guard is not included must be ordered separately. This heater has a built-in safety device. In the event this heater is removed or thrown from the water tank, the unit is designed to shut off before the heating element becomes hot enough to ignite a fire. If left energized the built-in safety device will gradually begin to cool-eventually allowing the heater to begin to operate. The heater will "cycle" like this until it is either immersed once again in water or the plug is pulled. Although the heater will not be hot enough to ignite a fire it will be hot enough to burn your hand or possibly scorch the surface it is lying on. As with any thermostat or other safety device, failure is always a possibility; therefore, it is YOUR responsibility to install this heater so your livestock cannot remove it from the water tank. The safety device is designed as a emergency back-up and not as a substitute for proper installation. It is YOUR responsibility to install this appliance in a manner which will prevent your livestock from throwing the heater from the tank or the tank running dry.
MAINTENANCE: Do not allow lime or other impurities (e.g. iron, mud, fish waste, etc) in the water to build up in excess of 1/32" on the diameter of the tubular heating element. This is an allowance of 1/64" on each side. An excess build-up can cause the heating element to burst sending electric current directly in to the water. The frequency of cleaning depends directly upon the composition of your water supply (e.g.lime and iron content). Remove these deposits wiith a lime removing liquid obtained at any farm or hardware store. Begin by soaking the heating element in a shallow pan containing the liquid and then remove the deposits being careful not to damage the heating element. TROUBLE SHOOTING: If the heater doesn't appear to b heating?.A) The unit is designed to de-ice water. This means the heater will not operate until the water temperature is approximately 40 F and you must wait as long as 30 minutes for this to happen. B) For your safety the heater is designed to shut off within 40 seconds when removed from water. It will only come "on" again when allowed to remain in water or air at a temperature below 40F for about 30 minutes. C) Check to see that you have electricity to your female receptacle. Have you blown a fuse? Outdoor receptacles gather a good deal of corrosion and this corrosion can stop electricity from reaching the heater. We suggest you unplug the heater, then slightly spread the prongs on the plug, and then replug into the receptacle. If this solves the problem, we suggest you install a new receptacle. Suggestions: As an extra safety precaution we recommend that a GROUND FAULT INTERRUPTER be installed in the circuit. This is a very sensitive device that cuts off the electrical current if there is any leakage of electricity in your water tank. This device may be obtained from any electrician or hardware store.
WARRANTY: This de-icer is warranted for a period of 12 months from the date of purchase. If you believe your de-icer is defective and still within the warranty period, return it to the factory for inspection and possible replacement. The warranty is voided if (1) the ground terminal on plug has been removed, (2) excessive deposits have been allowed to accumulate on heating element, (3) there is evidence of general abuse such as animals chewing on cord. This warranty does not cover incidental or consequential damage resulting from either a defect in parts, materials or operation failure. Some states do not allow the exclusion or limitation of the above damages so the above limitation or exclusion may not apply to you.

DEICE88R ALLIED PLASTIC TANK GUARD
DESCRIPTION: Protects Livestock and Plastic Containers. Fits both API Floating De-icers #7521 and #7621. Sinking De-icer (#1ON, #15N), Cast Aluminum De-icer (#15CA). Protects Livestock from the possibility of burns. Rugged and Weather Resistant. Fully protects your container. Warranted. This is an easy to install Guard which is designed to protect your non-metallic container from any damage resulting from operation of the de-icer outside of water and in contact with the container surface.
DIRECTIONS: Installation instructions for attaching to floating and sinking de-icers: 1) Begin by removing the stainless steel clip found in the center of the guard. Do this by removing the two nuts and screws which hold the clip to the guard. 2) Turn your de-icer upside down. Slide the clip in between the two copper segments. Be sure to place the clip so the notch is facing the straight copper segment and not "J" shaped copper segment. 3) Pull the clip upward so the black heater tube, which is soldered to the "J" shaped copper segment, is against the "U?" formed section of the clip. 4) Note that the two across segments of the guard are not the same. One segment is straight, the other segment has two offsets. 5) Keeping the de-icer upside down, place the guard on to the clip. The straight segment of the guard should be placed so that it runs parallel to the straight section of the heating element. The notch in the clip should be placed so that the offset segment of the guard is running through this notch. 6) Attach the two screws. If the guard is attached properly, the de-icer should be "trapped" in the center of the guard and not allowed to move from side to side. 7) Tighten the screws and nuts. Tighten these until both sides of the clip touch. Installation instructions for attaching guard to #15CA cast aluminum de-icer. 1) Begin by removing the stainless steel clip found in the center of the guard. Do this by removing the two nuts and screws which hold the clip to the guard. 2) Place the heater in the center of the guard . The heater must be positioned so the straight cross member on the heater is parallel with the straight wire form cross member on the guard. 3) Insert the clip. The notch in the clip should be positioned so that the wire form cross member is captured within this notch. 4) Attach the two screws. If the guard is attached properly, the de-icer should be "trapped" in the center of the guard and not allowed to move from side to side. 5) Tighten the screws and nuts. Tighten the screws and nuts. Tighten these until both sides of the clip touch.
WARNINGS: Do not use any other de-icer except the API Brand. Guard is UNSAFE for use with the old API #521 and #621. IF YOUR API FLOATING DE-ICER HAS ANY EXPOSED STYROFOAM THEN IT IS OUR OLDER MODEL DE-ICER (#521 OR #621), AND IS UNSAFE TO USE WITH THIS GUARD. If your de-icer is any brand other than API then it is also UNSAFE to use with this guard.
